Kanji Guide

Android

A kanji app for Android

Learn kanji on any Android phone. Nothing to download from a store.

Kanji Guide started on iPhone. For Android, the full course runs as a web app. You open it in Chrome, add it to your home screen, and it behaves like any other app, with its own icon and full-screen view.

What you get on Android

  • 2,131 kanji from JLPT N5 to N1
  • Picture stories that explain each character
  • Animated stroke order
  • On and kun readings with example words
  • Spaced-review practice

Add Kanji Guide to your home screen

  1. Open kanjiguide.com/app in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
  4. Confirm. The Kanji Guide icon appears with your other apps.

On Samsung Internet, open the menu and choose Add page to, then Home screen.

Why a web app

One version means every phone gets the same course and the same updates at the same time. You do not need to wait for a store release, and you are never asked to update an app to see new kanji.
